About the Development
LEGACY POINTE is approximately 277 acres in size and is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of I-72 and the new MacArthur Blvd. extension in Springfield, Illinois. LEGACY POINTE is a mixed-use development located on the City’s south side. The Development has been zoned Planned Unit Development (PUD-1), which allows for planning flexibility but requires a commitment to a mix of uses and significant amount of open space. The focal point of the Development will be the “Town Center” development, anchored by SCHEELS ALL SPORTS (opened June 25, 2011) with retail boutiques, specialty stores, restaurants, hotel, entertainment and sports facilities. The Town Center is planned to provide a higher level of amenities including water features, an interactive fountain, outdoor entertainment venues, interludes of landscaped areas, park benches, and green space for walking and bicycle trails throughout the Development.
Building a Legacy
"Building a Destination - A Legacy in the Making" has been the motto of Steve Luker, Bill Furling, and Dirk McCormick collectively for Legacy Pointe Development. Our vision is to create something extremely unique, to partner only with people and companies that will be genuine assets to the community, and to increase tourism to Springfield and truly be a legacy in the making. We want to build a place where people congregate, we want to build something that will last, and we want to share Springfield's rich Lincoln Heritage by building a destination where people eat, shop, play, and stay.
